Expository Preaching and Teaching Concentration, Master of Arts in Christian Ministry

The Expository Preaching and Teaching concentration in the Master of Arts in Christian Ministry (MACM) degree is designed to equip students who sense God’s calling to preach and teach His Word. The students will learn how to teach and preach with accuracy, clarity, and relevancy.

Students will also build a functional understanding of the teaching-learning process. This course is designed to provide instruction and experience in the process of communicating God’s truth to people through the avenues commonly referred to as “teaching and preaching.” It introduces an effective methodology of organizing and developing the components of lessons and/or sermons and examines issues related to the bridging of exegesis and exposition. Students will also explore some of the elements of how to connect with contemporary audiences and maintain their attention.

The following types of students are encouraged to consider this program:

  •  Aspiring and active pastors or preachers who desire to be better equipped to study, interpret, and effectively communicate God’s Word to today’s culture.
  • Those who are either currently serving or preparing to teach God’s Word
within a church ministry or academic setting (e.g., Christian high school
    or Bible college).

Career Opportunities

By being formally trained in expository preaching and teaching, you will be able to create a sound biblical foundation that will not be compromised by contemporary worldviews, non-biblical philosophies, and today’s trends. Pastors, preachers, and teachers help to shape the biblical worldview and day-to-day practice of their congregants and students. As you navigate our increasingly complex culture, you will gain strong discernment, practical tools, and effective communication techniques to convey biblical principles and guide application to a diverse audience.
